Historical Perspective of the Ledyard Reservoir and Walk
Full Description:
The Ledyard Historical Society Fall Program will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 7:30 pm at the Ledyard Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. "Historical Perspective of the Ledyard Reservoir", a history of the 1955 Construction of Ledyard Reservoir and dam including old maps and photos will be presented by Al Dion, Deputy Director of the Water Division at Groton Utilites. Do you remember the construction? Your participation is welcome to help identify things in the photos. Free and open to the public.
The program will continued on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 9 am to 11:30 am for "Ledyard Reservoir Walk" with Carl Acimovic, consultant for Groton Utilites. Plan on a 2-3 mile walk around the reservoir and dam perimeter; viewing historic sites, flora and fauna. Meet at 636 Gales Ferry/Long Cove Rd near the Groton/Ledyard Town Line and across from the Mystic Valley Hunt Club. Look for a white house and use the drive going into the chain link fence. Heavy rain will cancel. It is free and opened to the public.
